Benjamin Moore Blue Veil Bedroom
The Top 8 Blue, Green, Gray Paint Colours (blends)
When it comes to the best paint colours, you'd be hard-pressed to find brands better than Sherwin Williams and Benjamin Moore.Their ability to tap into the trendy end of things as well as the traditional means they are my 'go-to brands' when I'm doing my Online Pain Colour Consulting.
And as far as trends go, there's no other colour blend more popular than blue-green. Call it turquoise, teal, robins egg, call it whatever the heck you want – I call it awesome.
These are just general blobs, not specific colours
Points to Ponder
- Cool paint colours such as blue, green and gray with blue-green undertones often suit south-facing rooms as they can balance out the warm light coming in the window
- The darker your room is (or north-facing), the more colourful you'll want your colour to be as you'll need it to shine through the shadows
- The grayer your paint colour is, the more subtle the undertones will be – but remember, there are ALWAYS undertones
- Intense, bright sunlight can slightly wash-out paint colours so don't be afraid to add some depth if you have a well-lit room! Just remember, when night comes, some colours can appear more rich and saturated than in the daytime
- Many green-gray blends can pick up a subtle blue undertone depending on the type of green you're dealing with (green-blue or green-yellow) and the type of natural and artificial lighting you have
- Many blue-gray blends can pick up a subtle green undertone, depending on the type of blue you're dealing with (green-blue or purple-blue)
- Blue-green colours tend to look warmer than colours that are blue-purple (although both are traditionally cool colours). Not sure which type of blue is your fave? Check this out… How to Choose the Best Blue for You!

Enough of that, let's get onto the good stuff!
1. Sherwin Williams Sea Salt SW 6204
Sea Salt is definitely in the Top 3 when it comes to green paint colours. That's right, Sea Salt is actually a green-gray blend, HOWEVER, it's been known to lean blue, which is why I had to include it as one of my FAVES! The green and gray (and blue) mix together to provide a subtly colourful, calm blend that's perfect for a relaxing spa-style bathroom or family-friendly space!
The LRV of Sea Salt is 64, so while it's a light colour, it won't reflect as much light into a room as you'd think.
A bit more about Sea Salt
- Sea Salt is unpredictable. You have to paint a LARGE sample of this colour or get the SAMPLIZE sheet to see how it might act in your room
- If you don't like blue, this is a risky colour. If you don't like green, this is ALSO a risky colour!
- While Sea Salt is great for 'a' room, it's not as nice for a whole home (too much of a good thing)

2. Benjamin Moore Silver Marlin 2139-50
I LOOOVE Silver Marlin. It's flexible, simple and soft look is perfect for MANY styles. This is a subtle blend with its blue-green blend and soft gray backdrop.
Silver Marlin has an LRV of 57 so it's a light-medium tone.
A bit more about Silver Marlin
- Silver Marlin can easily look 'more blue' or 'more green' depending on your exposure, lighting, and interior finishings
- If you like a nod toward colour, without a 100% commitment, this could work well for you!
3. Benjamin Moore Gray Cashmere 2138-60
Gray Cashmere is a LIGHT mix of green, blue and gray with a bit more gray than not.It certainly won't look like a plain gray, but the gray works to calm the blue-green blend down quite a bit. And while it's a blend of those three colours, it more often leans blue-gray than green-gray.
Gray Cashmere has an LRV of 65 – the highest on this page!
A bit more about Gray Cashmere
- Gray Cashmere is somewhat comparable to Sea Salt, just with more gray-blue in it
- Gray Cashmere is a popular bedroom and bathroom paint colour

4. Benjamin Moore Mount Saint Anne 1565
Oooo, she's a pretty one! Mount Saint Anne is a gorgeous blue with a decent gray backdrop and a touch of green to soften 'er up, although you'd hardly know it to look at it.
Mount Saint Anne has an LRV of 42, so she's solidly in the medium tones.
A bit more about Mount Saint Anne
- MSA is a popular colour for a coastal look
- MSA can be a touch cool for a north-facing room but is a great way to balance out the warm sunshine in a south-facing room
5. Sherwin Williams Rainwashed SW 6211
Rainwashed is a blue-green-gray which favours blue more than green with the gray falling back quite a bit.
The LRV of Rainwashed is 60.
A bit more about Rainwashed
- Rainwashed has a decent amount of colour in it, so it will add life to a room, without being too punchy
- Rainwashed has a fresh, but soothing look as the gray softens it up

6. Benjamin Moore Gibraltar Cliffs 1587
Hot DAMN, I love this colour! Gibraltar Cliffs is a gorgeous choice for a soft, slightly West Coast vibe! It's a blend of blue and gray with a minor green coming through to soften it up.
Notice in the above photos how the colour can rise up or fall back, depending on the light it's getting.
Gibraltar Cliffs has an LRV of 30. So, while it's slightly darker, the colour of it rises up SO nicely, especially when hit with a dash of natural light!
A bit more about Gibraltar Cliffs
- It's great for a whole room if you have enough light
- It's gorgeous as a feature wall with gray or soft cream or off-white walls
Let's take a quick break to talk about paint samples…
Undoubtedly, you'll be heading out in the near future to grab paint samples – stop right there! I want you to check out SAMPLIZE . Samplize offers peel and stick paint samples that are more AFFORDABLE, EASIER and more ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY than traditional paint pots. Here are just a FEW reasons why I recommend Samplize to my clients…
- Samples arrive ON YOUR DOORSTEP in 1-3 business days, depending on location
- At $6.99, they're more affordable than the samples pots/rollers/foam boards that are needing for traditional paint sampling
- If you keep the samples on their white paper, you can move them around the room

7. Sherwin Williams Earl Gray SW 7660
Earl Gray is actually a GRAY, but it has a very solid blue-green undertone in it.
BTW, did you know that I rely 100% on AFTER photos from my local and E-design clients – thank you for sending yours in!

Earl Gray is a medium depth paint colour with an LRV of 32.
A bit more about Earl Gray
- Earl Gray has some nice depth and colour to it, while still looking pretty neutral
- Darkening Earl Gray can enhance its undertones slightly
8. Benjamin Moore Woodlawn Blue HC 147
Woodlawn Blue and Wedgewood Gray are two of the best blue paint colours. SO many of today's most popular blues have a lot of green in them. Not these two. These are almost true blues and only have a small amount of green in them, which stops them from looking icy cold and helps them hold up a bit better in a north-facing room (which could look TOO cold with a real true-blue on the walls).
A bit more about Woodlawn and Wedgewood
- Woodlawn has an LRV of 61, so it's light, but not SUPER bright. Wedgewood has an LRV of 50, so it's closer to the medium end of things
- Woodlawn is the lighter version of Wedgewood. They both have just the right depth to look gorgeous in almost any room
Okay, maybe there's a few more than 8…
9. Sherwin Williams Moody Blue SW 6221
Moody Blue is a lovely rich, medium-toned blue-green blend with a subtle gray backbone to calm it down.
See the before and after if this room here: E-Design: A Teal Inspired Bedroom Makeover
A bit more about Moody Blue
- Moody Blue has an LRV of 27, so it's on the darker side, but it's not a heavy, dense look in a room with reasonable light
- Moody Blue is a green-blue blend, but it does like to lean slightly more blue than green
10. Sherwin Williams Comfort Gray SW 6205
Comfort Gray is more or less the light-medium version of Sea Salt. And just like Sea Salt, it's a bit of a ninja, looking more blue-green in some rooms and looking more green-blue in others!
A bit more about Comfort Gray
- Comfort Gray has an LRV of 54. Not sure what LRV is? Read here
- Comfort Gray is a beautiful choice for a south-facing room to balance out those warm sunbeams!

Read more: Paint Colour Review of Sherwin Williams Silver Strand

12. Sherwin Williams Lattice SW 7654
Lattice is a light blend of gray, blue and green – just a whisper of colour for those not ready to fully commit!
A bit more about Lattice…
- Lattice has an LRV of 61, so it's a great light depth
- Lattice can just as easily favour the blue over the green OR the green over the blue, so sample it carefully if you're fussy!
